Settlements Specialist

Franklin, TN

The Settlements Specialist will perform the day-to-day settlement process for merchant transactions. This will include providing exceptional customer service to merchants as necessary. Thus, the ideal candidate is highly organized with excellent problem-solving skills to address any issues that may arise.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities (Other Duties May Be Assigned)

  • Perform the day-to-day settlement process for our entire merchant base
  • Setup of new merchants in our GL system and maintain records for all updates/changes
  • Reconcile accrued balances and payments on a daily basis
  • Investigate transaction discrepancies and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Assist Customer Support at a Tier 2 Level for any merchant related items
  • Produce various reporting/KPIs on settlement activity
  • Produce 1099s on an annual basis
  • Collaborate with internal teams and billing to ensure seamless operations
  • Assist in the development and implementation of settlement procedures and best practices
  • Act as a backup to the Billing Specialist
  • Provide support to the broader Accounting Department when needed

Required Skills

  • 3+ years of Accounting or experience in a similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree is a plus
  • Prior fuel card/payment experience is a plus
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to multi-task
  • Ability to effectively interact with and relate to internal and external audiences of all levels
  • Must be flexible with a “can do” attitude and have remain professional under high pressure situations
  • Ability to solve problems using data from multiple sources
  • Able to retain and protect confidential material
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Experience with NetSuite is a plus
  • 1099 experience is a plus
