Billing Specialist

Franklin, TN

The Billing Specialist will perform the day-to-day billing functions for our customer base. This will include reviewing invoices created systematically as well as creating invoices manually. The Billing Specialist will work closely with our customer base to maintain positive relationships and provide exceptional customer service regarding billing inquiries. Thus, the ideal candidate is highly organized with excellent problem-solving skills to address any issues that may arise.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities (Other Duties May Be Assigned)

  • Review and/or process invoices accurately and timely
  • Setup of customers in our GL system and process all updates/changes
  • Reconcile invoices and outstanding amounts on a daily basis
  • Monitor outstanding amounts and follow up for timely payment
  • Process credits/adjustments as necessary
  • Investigate billing discrepancies or disputes and resolve issues in a timely manner through effective communications internally and with customers
  • Assist Customer Support at a Tier 2 Level for any billing related items
  • Produce various reporting/KPIs on invoice activity and outstanding items
  • Collaborate with internal teams and billing to ensure seamless operations
  • Assist in the development and implementation of billing procedures and best practices
  • Act as a backup to the Settlements Specialist
  • Provide support to the broader Accounting Department when needed

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting highly preferred
  • 3+ years of billing experience in a similar role
  • Experience with NetSuite is a plus
  • Prior fuel card/payment experience is a plus
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to multi-task
  • Ability to effectively interact with and relate to internal and external audiences of all levels
  • Must be flexible with a “can do” attitude and have remain professional under high pressure situations
  • Ability to solve problems using data from multiple sources
  • Able to retain and protect confidential material
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
