Applications Manager

Franklin, TN

The Applications Manager will be a key player in QuikQ’s technology group and be a “right-hand” person to our CTO. This person will be expected to learn various components of QuikQ’s technology stack. The Applications Manager will be responsible for oversight of the development teams and ultimately ensuring projects are delivered on time and budget. However, this person will also be expected to get involved in day-to-day activity and be a hands-on type of manager. This role will act as a liaison between IT and business groups as necessary to ensure successful completion of development, working closely with business analysts and QA. The ideal candidate will be well rounded with the ability to grow as our company and IT group matures.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manage teams of Java and C++ developers
  • Monitor project development to ensure we are staying on established budget and timeline
  • Proactively manage issues/risks and escalate as needed
  • Interact with the business around priorities, business requirements, design, and project status
  • Lead or participate in requirements analysis and design sessions
  • Maintain resource/headcount plans for team
  • Monitor individual & team performance, including making related personnel decisions
  • Assist the team in dealing with technical debt
  • Develop standard operating procedures within software development and other areas as necessary
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Knowledge & Skills

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree at a minimum in associated field of studies
  • 5+ years of applicable professional experience
  • Previous development experience with Java and C++

Special Skills & Knowledge

  • Familiarity with data governance and data stewardship
  • Knowledge of project management fundamentals
  • Experience with Agile development methodology
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to multi-task
  • Well rounded individual with familiarity of various IT concepts and a general business acumen
  • Ability to effectively interact with and relate to audiences of all levels
  • Must be flexible with a “can do” attitude and have the ability to remain professional under high pressure situations
  • Ability to analyze problems using data from multiple sources and recommend solutions
  • Able to retain and protect confidential material
